I could feel the pulse of a city-section looking to express itself, as soon as I stepped out onto 47th Street and Baltimore Ave.

Just like for many of us, West Philly is in a state of re-identification, a process often fraught with trial, error, and uncertainty.

Speaking as someone who’s sending and spending energy towards defining a new path, I had a solid appreciation for the efforts put forth by this event.

The West Philly Porchfest is a neighborhood’s celebration of togetherness through music. Musicians of all genres lined the Victorian Era-looking streets, for a six-hour jam fest on a Saturday in the summer.
