“The Shelter Guests”
I had the pleasure of meeting the guests at Bethesda Project’s: Our Brothers’ Place, a shelter in Philadelphia for those experiencing homelessness. I was also invited to their annual summer picnic.
Bethesda Project is a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, housing and supportive services across 15 locations to adults experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia. Here, the guests and residents experience a safe environment — and most importantly — a home where they can stabilize and find community. Click HERE for their website.
Meet Shaun & Billy
First in line for the photo shoot, Shaun shared with me that he is a Scorpio. And as is characteristic for Scorpios, he loves the warm weather.
Next, Billy seemed to have a very natural way with the camera; he needed no artistic direction.
Meet William & Melvin
William is into fashion. His friends joked with him at the shoot, calling him “GQ”, and that’s what gave me the smile shots.
Melvin was very talkative and excited about the art world. He would like to get back into drawing.
Meet Eric, Darren & Alfredo
Eric was quiet and reserved. Though, his kind energy shown through.
Darren was well versed in camera talk as he used to enjoy taking photos of his family at cookouts with his film camera.
Alfredo, though not a native English speaker, was the most excited about the shoot.
Meet The Staff
Friendly, welcoming and lighthearted, the staff at Our Brothers’ Home, are a fun and warm group of people to be around.
